\n \n \n If you are not into the idea of astrology, then this article is probably not for you. However, if you like astrology and Naruto then you might be in for a treat.\n\n\n
\n \n \n The Naruto characters have been given official birthdays by Kishimoto. I noticed that Kishimoto didn't just randomly assign birthdays to the characters. He intentionally picked birthdays so the characters had specific zodiac signs.\n
\n
Let's look at a few:\n
\n
Naruto is a Libra \n
Sasuke is a Leo\n
Sakura is an Aries\n
\n The symbol of Libra is the justice scales. Naruto does his best to bring peace and balance to the world. He discovers that things aren't always black and white and that the enemies he encounters are sometimes the products of their environment or greater systemic injustices. Therefore he takes a reform approach rather than strict punishment.\n
He is also very confident in himself. He doesn't need other's approval, he simply knows his worth.\n
\n
Sasuke is a Leo. I describe Leos as people who get the spotlight whether they like it or not. Sasuke doesn't care at all what people think of him and yet he's so popular amongst students and even viewers. Leos are VERY passionate people. Sasuke shows he is very passionate about his personal mission. It's all he can think about and if he feels like he's not moving towards his goal he takes it very hard.\n
\n
Sakura is a go-getter. She's a very good student, and when she sets her sights on something she will do her absolute best to get it, even if it hurts her. She has some recklessness to her. She's also extremely aggressive when you get on her bad side, but she's also very loving and protective of the people she cares about. She's channels her emotions and uses it as motivation to push her forward. The inner voice Ino discovers within Sakura is the Aries force driving her.
\n
Sakura does have a fiery attitude but you never see her use fire abilities. However, she does marry into the Uchiha clan later on. Aries element is fire.\n
\n
Sasuke is an Uchiha who are excellent in fire ninjutsu. We saw him use fire frequently in the first series. Leo is a fire sign.\n
\n
Naruto discovers that his element is wind and he learns Rasengan. Libra is an air sign. His father Minato, is Aquarius, which is also an air sign. Minato was the inventor of Rasengan.\n
\n
This lets me know that these zodiac signs were carefully chosen for each character. If it wasn't their elemental ability, it was their personality that was considered.\n
\n Which leads me to Gaara.
\n
![\"Kankuro,](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/sandsiblings.webp\")
\n \n \n \n
\n\n\n
The sand siblings are all earth signs. The pragmatic, confident, perfectionist Temari is a Virgo. The grounded, laid back but stubborn Kankuro is Taurus. Gaara is a Capricorn. They are from the sand village, and sand is just ground up Earth, so that's why they are given Earth zodiac signs.\n
![\"Kazekage](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/Gaara-kazekage-work.png\")
\n \n \n \n
\n\n\n The stereotype for Capricorns is that they are all business. They are hard workers and very focused and driven. Excellence is key for Capricorns. I like to joke that no one hates a Capricorn more than themselves because they can be very critical of themselves but don't take criticism from others.\n
\n
Gaara ends up becoming the Kazekage of his village. Being a Capricorn is perfect for all the paperwork he has to do and even if he would rather be out in the field, he gets his paperwork done. He seems to gain respect from his village so one can assume he's actually a really good Kage.\n
![\"\"](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/gaara-confidence.jpg\")
\n \n \n When he was younger, Gaara was not necessarily hard working, but he wasn't lazy either. He was transactional. I'll do this for you, if it means i get to kill people. When we see Gaara in the chunin exams he seems cocky. I don't think he was actually cocky, I think his disinterest and lack of enthusiasm is a sign that he was simply bored and lacked a good challenge.\n
\n
When the extremely passionate and romantic Rock Lee (Sagittarius) faces him, Gaara realizes Lee is actually a very formidable opponent. That makes it much more enjoyable to defeat him. He genuinely loves a challenge and will accept it head on. He loves the thrill of the hunt. The fight didn't end how he planned. He didn't care that he won the match, he wanted to see it to the end. He wanted the achievement of killing Lee.\n
![\"Lee](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/Gaara-vs-Rock-Lee-in-Naruto-Cropped.avif\")
\n \n \n But Gaara isn't just a Capricorn. He has another zodiac sign hiding underneath.\n
\n
People who are born close to the end or beginning of a zodiac season are considered on the cusp. Cuspers are encouraged to read the horoscopes of the two zodiac signs that they cusp. This is because they will carry traits of both signs.\n
\n
So what is Gaara's second sign?\n
\n
Gaara's father Rasa had the One-Tail demon Shukaku sealed into Garra while his mom was still pregnant. This caused complications and she gave birth to him early.\n
\n
Gaara was not meant to be born that early. When I looked at his birthday I realized something fascinating. Gaara was born on the LAST day of the Capricorn season. This doesn't just mean he's on the cusp, it means that he was actually meant to be born an Aquarius.
\n
![\"Karura](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/gaara-premature.jpg\")
\n \n \n Even more fascinating is that Aquarius is an air sign known as the water bearer. The symbol is a jug of water. What is on Gaara's back? A giant gourd filled with sand. Gourds were historically used to carry water.\n
\n
People mistake Aquarius as a water sign because of the symbol. Being a water bearer means you are responsible for carrying weight and bearing peoples emotions. Water is usually a symbol for emotions. Aquarians are not water, they carry the water. Gaara is literally bearing the weight of his mother's emotions. His mother's essence exists in the sand and protects him. The sand will often mimic water in the way that it behaves and in some of Gaara's own jutsu, like the sand tsunami.\n
![\"Gaara](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/gaara-sand.png\")
\n \n \n Gaara had an extremely traumatic childhood which caused him to be cold, calculated and murderous. When he healed his inner self he became a very empathetic person. Even though he was officially assigned to help, he felt it was his duty to protect Lee from Kimimaru because Gaara was the one who nearly killed Lee. It's Gaara's fault that Lee couldn't hold his own. I believe he took this opportunity to make reparations and do the right thing.\n
\n
When Gaara first fought Sasuke, Sasuke was not evil yet. He was simply a boy trying to win a tournament. Gaara faces Sasuke at the 5 Kage summit. He sees that Sasuke has become a monster. Naruto helped Gaara heal, and he knew Naruto was trying to save Sasuke as well. Gaara felt survivors guilt because Sasuke was not wanting to be saved. He understood the emotional weight of this issue. He understood the path Sasuke was on but also felt horrible for Naruto because he knows first hand what kind of person Naruto is. He knows that Sasuke's behavior his tearing Naruto apart. He also probably feels a genuine level of guilt because he worked with Orochimaru during the invasion and that is when Sasuke started on this dark path.\n
![\"\"yeah...\"](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/gaara-tear.jpeg\")
\n \n ![\"Gaara](\"https://wickedwestcreations-articles.neocities.org/media/posts/1/gaara-vs-deidara.webp\")
\n \n \n Gaara also sacrifices himself to save his village. He has clearly grown to love his people and is willing to do anything to protect them. He became a man who was willing to stand up for those who could not do so themselves. On the outside he seems cold and unfeeling which is how some people feel Aquarians are but inside he actually feels things deeply.\n
\n
Gaara became a brilliant Kage. His Capricorn side does not shy away from his duties to maintain his village, and his Aquarian side has made him a well spoken and compassionate leader who probably brings innovative and fresh ideas to the table for his village.\n
\n
Both Aquarius and Capricorn are ruled by Saturn. This increases the structure and logic. Aquarius has a bonus planet Uranus. That's where the unconventional abilities, and rebellion comes from.\n
\n
The gourd. The sand behaving like water. The development of his jutsu. The inner humanitarian. The rebellion. The bearer of love. Of trauma. Of pain. Of hate. Aquarius.\n
\n
The self control. The management. Disciplined. Professionalism. Loyalty. Success. Capricorn.
Thanks for reading! If you're a Gaara fan like me, I highly recommend the light novel Gaara Hiden: A Sandstorm Mirage.
